Skanect

Skanect is a software program, equipped with several tools, that enables users to create 3D models of various objects and persons.

It features 3D scanning, color texture maps, 3D compatible sensors and allows editing in 3rd party software.

Once you start it, you are welcomed by a basic UI, with a black theme and well-displayed page sections. The buttons look unpolished and unprofessional, while the font text is small and poorly chosen. The navigation through the menu is easy and intuitive, but the buttons are sometimes unresponsive.

Despite its poorly designed interface, Skanect manages to look like a decent software solution when it comes to its features and functions.
Its 3D Capture feature has a record timer and countdown and can perform a full-scan or keyframe recording. It has recording presets for the body, object, and room scans and includes CPU and GPU acceleration reconstruction.
The 3D Processing allows the removal of small parts and comes with colorization for unseen areas. Also, it can fill holes and includes watertight mesh generation.
With Skanect, users can export files to 3D software and 3D printers that support formats like .OBJ, .PLY, .VRML, .STL.

All in all, Skanect is a useful 3D modeling program, that embeds a decent amount of features. However, its price seems a bit high for what it provides.
